\t\t\t\t\t\tSee, this time of year, things can get really hectic, between gift shopping, hosting out-of-town-guests, and holiday festivities.
\t\t\t\t\t\t
\t\t\t\t\t\tWhich is why I have a go-to “brain de-stresser” for when I need to catch my breath, ground myself, and feel centered:
\t\t\t\t\t\t
\t\t\t\t\t\tI spend time writing in agratitude journal.
\t\t\t\t\t\t
\t\t\t\t\t\tIf you’re not familiar with the idea, it’s a simple journal with prompts you can respond to — to help refocus your mind on the truly important things in life.
\t\t\t\t\t\t
\t\t\t\t\t\tSo, while writing yesterday, I started thinking about all the incredible people in the ActivatedYou family (including you)...

\t\t\t\t\t\tSo here are a few tips I picked up when I was getting started, which helped me feel more comfortable with the process:

1. Take 3 slow, deep breaths before writing.
\t\t\t\t\t\t
\t\t\t\t\t\tIt might sound random, but taking a few mindful breaths can help you get into an “attitude of gratitude” before writing…
\t\t\t\t\t\t
\t\t\t\t\t\tMaking it easier to forget the day’s frustrations and really focus on what you’re thankful for.

\t\t\t\t\t\t\xa0 \t\t\t\t\t\t
2. Don’t force yourself to write “enough.”
\t\t\t\t\t\t
\t\t\t\t\t\tYou’re not being graded on this — so you don’t have to treat it like an 8-page essay.
\t\t\t\t\t\t
\t\t\t\t\t\tIf the prompt for the day inspires you to write a lot… great!
\t\t\t\t\t\t
\t\t\t\t\t\tAnd if you wind up only jotting down a few sentences… great!
\t\t\t\t\t\t
\t\t\t\t\t\tAs long as you’re happy with what you’ve written, you can’t go wrong.

3. Let it be "ugly."
\t\t\t\t\t\t

What I mean is: Don’t get caught up on finding the prettiest “10-dollar words” to describe your feelings…
\t\t\t\t\t\t
\t\t\t\t\t\tBecause the FEELINGS are the goal, not the words themselves.
\t\t\t\t\t\t
\t\t\t\t\t\tInstead, just write what comes naturally when you think about the prompt —
\t\t\t\t\t\t
\t\t\t\t\t\tYou’remuchmore likely to write something meaningful that way.
\t\t\t\t\t\t
\t\t\t\t\t\tSo whether you journal regularly, or if you’ve never tried it before,I hope you’ll print this free download and give it a try.
