This is one of those Rums that thinks it's a Scotch.
People also call it theRum for Scotch lovers. And it certainly has thatScotch quality. We heard through the grapevine that Brugal uses the same wood policy as the world’s best Single Malt Scotch Whiskies. And like many Scotch Whiskies, after an initial maturation in Bourbon barrels, it undergoes a final ageing process inOloroso Sherry casks.
We've also heard thatBrugal 1888is distilled for dryness, which removes many of the heavy alcohols that give other Rums their sweetness. Thus it's intriguingly different.A breath of fresh air in the Rum industry!
