Science Fiction and cinema have gone hand in hand since the birth of moving pictures. Georges Melies’s A Trip to the Moon was made all the way back in 1902. And since then, sci-fi movies have continued to hold a mirror to our most utopian dreams and most dystopian nightmares. With big, knotty “what if” scenarios that mix speculative, brave-new-world storytelling and envelope-pushing visual imagery, no movie genre packs the same allegorical power as sci-fi.
