Like my mom, his parents are from Trinidad and Tobago, and he grew up in Flatbush in Brooklyn, where my grandma also lived for all of my childhood. AK and I have a shared appreciation for the diversity of Brooklyn, and more specifically Flatbush. "A sense of style is important because when I grew up on hip-hop, there were a lot of rappers, but everyone had their uniqueness about them, and that made them stand out," he says. "That might be the reason why I don't find new inspiration within the music realm, because a lot of people sound the same." |
