Tom Forddidn’twear Tom Ford. In the most surprising sartorial move of the night, the reigning king of black tie—who last year sold his namesake label for \\$2.8 billion—chose to wearanotherdesigner on the red carpet.
Watches were more vital than ever. This was arguably the best-ever Met Gala from a horological perspective, with guests like Usher, Jeremy Strong, and Donald Glover sporting a startling array of grail-level timepieces. Those stars—and many more—sent us exclusive wrist shots to drool over.
Barry Keoghan blasted Central Cee to pump himself up before the Gala. While putting on his custom Burberry look, theSaltburnstar opened up to GQ’s Eileen Cartter about adjusting to fame, signing up for acting classes after his first Oscar nomination, and why he doesn’t “like the idea of people being paid to act.”
Colman Domingo’s graceful look was an homage to lost friends. “Everything I do, I feel like it’s gotta be for the culture,” Domingo said of his flowy Willy Chavarria rig, which paid tribute to two late Black style icons: actor Chadwick Boseman andVoguejournalist André Leon Talley.
Many of the night’s best ensembles were also the quietest. From Nicholas Galitzine in Fendi to Damson Idris in Prada, the Gala’s sharpest menswear looks were a welcome reminder of the timeless power of tailoring.
