You, yesYOU. You are amazing and for that I am grateful. Why? Because you have been gracious with your patience and have allowed me to work on what I consider the most amazing and remarkable work of not only my career, but my life. This is not hyperbole. I recently turned 50 and with it many revelations had risen to the surface. Everything that I do, I have to look back on with no regrets.

You have spoken in comments, emails, and notes on other social platforms your need for the Black Flag campaign to be updated regularly. Not just to do it, but to show you the respect and gratitude you deserve as a backer of this project. I’ve dragged my feet in doing so. Now, I have a saying and the irony is that I needed to apply it to myself. “It’s hard to read the label when you’re in the jar.” You’ve read the label and have given me a clear picture of what you would like from me in the future of this campaign. I am going to do just that.

Below (spoilers, especially if my storytelling is clear, but not too many as many of these have already been changed for further clarity.) are some of the the building blocks of Black Flag issue 1. Some you've already seen, most this is the first time. The notes have been blurred to protect some of the key aspects of the dialogue. (there are still some surprises to come) I want you to enjoy the book when you get it.\xa0

“When will I get my book?” This is the question I get asked the most and the one that haunts my thoughts. It only haunts my thoughts because I am terrible with estimates and in the past have failed to hit those estimates. What I will say is that the book will be in your hands this year. And no, not in the 3rd quarter.
Speaking of this year, it’s the 30th anniversary of the debut of Black Flag! When I created the book and even now, Black Flag is pure wish fulfillment. I wanted to take all of the things that I love and smash them into one idea. Making sense of all of it has been a heck of a ride. One that I am humbled and honored to bring to you.
