As Easter brunch approaches, many people have one thing on the brain: biscuits. Split biscuits sandwiching a slice of country ham, biscuits loaded with butter and honey. At King Arthur we love biscuits, and we havea lot of them to go around(this one, which calls for self-rising flour, is probablythe easiest). But we also believe that while Easter should start with biscuits, even more bakes should follow. So: chocolate. I know, there's plenty of chocolate already in an Easter basket. But for the adults at the brunch table (who may or may not have outgrown Cadbury Creme Eggs), put out this showstoppingGiant Sheet Pan Chocolate Croissant. It's nottechnicallya croissant (and luckily, it's way easier to make), but it has tons of crispy pastry layers and is showered withSnow White Non-Melting Sugar. Who's going to complain? For something less decadent but still celebratory, consider our newMorning Glory Breakfast Bread. It's sweetened withmaple syrup, packed with fruit, and fortified with bothwhite whole wheatand oat flours; one slice should hold you over until the ham comes out. Then, post-ham, take a big slice of ourCarrot Cake Cheesecake. As the name plainly puts it, it's carrot cake on the bottom, plain cheesecake on top — a mash-up that would make any day feel special, and a holiday even more so. And if mash-ups are your thing, here's another one: theseSticky Bun Banana Muffinsare soft, vanilla-scented cakes topped with the gooey, crunchy pecans you usually see on sticky buns. They're sweet, they're decadent and perhaps most importantly, they're small. Tucked alongside candy and colored eggs, they'll be the best of the basket. |
