Is theAcottonflannelthe softest flannel you’ve ever handled? Well, we can’t speak to your lived experience but it sure feels pretty damn nice. Spun and woven in Italy by the shirting masters at Albini. At 190gsm this fabric is heavyweight by Albini's dress shirt standards, but lightweight by flannel standards. Brushed on the outside, left smooth on the interior, if there is a secret sauce here it’s in the two-ply, 30/2, yarns that give the fabric a volume and dimensionality that defy its weight. It’s a lightweight coziness perfect for merino lovers and people who run average to hot. (If you run cold we recommend something likeAcottontwillwhich uses almost twice as much cotton.) This year we worked with Albini to develop our first custom plaid, a simple blue, gray and black mix we call Shadowlit. Dense cotton on the inside, loose merino terry on the inside, you get the protective structure of a cotton hoodie with the dry performance of merino towards the skin. If you find that pure cotton hoodies sometimes get too clammy or smelly this is the stuff for you. One of merino’s many natural performance capabilities is the ability to absorb water vapor while repelling liquid water, creating a beautifully dry body climate. And yeah resists odors too. Quite frankly this combo might be overkill for some people, but if you love that merino feeling and want a little structure to your fleece as well then there is absolutely nothing else like it.\xa0
