Hey Everyone,

It's a holiday shortened week here in New York, but that doesn't stop us from diving deeper into the grid with a brand new home-optimized towel experiment.\xa0

We're usually pretty hesitant to call things the best, the best is hella subjective, but we've been confident calling ourGrid Linen Towelsthe best damn beach towels for years. Between the lightweight compactness, the quick drying and the sand shedding they are fantastic outdoor towels. Indoors they get a lot more contentious though. Weight and portability aren't really a factor in the comfort of your own home and while some people genuinely prefer the precision drying feel you get with linen, big fluffy cotton towels certainly can be pretty nice too. Our brand newDeepgrid Cottolinenfabric takes that classicGrid Linenperformance and brings it back home to create something just right. Well that's the hypothesis at least, this is the test:Experiment 411 - Deepgrid Cottolinen Towel.\xa0

Linen makes a great towel material because it can absorb as much moisture as cotton, but does it while still staying dry to the touch. This gives it a particularly precise dry feeling that also allows it to be much lighter. On top of that it dries faster than cotton and resists mold and mildew too. This all sounds great but there is a trade off, linen is stiffer than cotton, so it doesn't lend itself those big plush puffy effects you get with cotton terry weaves. The\xa0Deepgrid Cottolinenbrings the two natural fibers together to bring a bit of that plushness into the precise dry world of linen. If your goal is lightness, pure linen is still better, if the goal is absolute softness and volume, pure cotton is still the move, but if you want to have your cake and eat it too, well it's time to get deep in theDeepgrid Cottolinen. At 330gsm it's 65% heavier than ourGrid Linen, with a similar honeycomb/waffleweave/latticework structure that gives it a nice volume and large surface area while staying quite open. The result is just a damn nice towel, with that crisp linen dryness spliced with a bit of that soft cotton bounce. But enough with the words, the only way to really know is to try it.\xa0

Linen is of course only one of many bast fibers, most of which have similar dry touch properties.
