Hey Everyone,

September used to be merino season in New York, but you know any season is merino season, no matter how much we burn the earth. That said we do tend to reach for the merino far more in the fall-through-spring than the high summer. The thermoregulation and dry body climate it creates are year-round features, but no matter how you slice it it still insulates a bit and that means it shines in weather where you want a little (or a lot) of insulation. From the ultralightDreamweight, lightweightDaybreak, extra-drySportweight, the all around near-perfection ofUltrapureand through to theWarmformandHard/coheavyweights, we've got you well covered on the merino front.

TheUltrafine Merino Cut One T-Shirtmay have changed names a few times, but it's by the far the longest running Outlier product. We switched mills once, but the fabric and cut are basically the same as they've been since 2009, a slim fitting near-perfect t-shirt using 200gsm of top-capped, tight-spectrum merino sourced exclusively from New Zealand's Mackenzie Range. We added a brand new Lilac Haze color last week, but more importantly today we've got a brand new cut, theUltrafine Merino Cut Three T-Shirt.Cut Oneis slim and straight.Cut Twois more compact with broader shoulders and a higher neck.Cut Threeis straight overflowing, long and wide, with the shoulder seam well off the shoulder and both the sleeves and body long for a short sleeve. It's a fantastic fit, that uses significantly more merino, perfect for people looking for a looser vibe or just want to swim in the good stuff.\xa0

We've also got a new run of last year's Ultrapure Mackenzie update, the redoneUltrafine Merino Longsleeve. There isn't much to say here except we started over from scratch to build a new long sleeve cut that fits just right. And of course there is all that natural merino performance. The dry body climate comes from wool's remarkable hygroscopic nature (that means it absorbs water vapor, not liquid water, and the fact is most of your sweat is actually vapor not liquid). The thermobuffering effect that makes merino comfortable in a wider range of temperatures than just about anything else. The fact that it feels dry and insulates when wet is a bonus, as is the wrinkle resistance and remarkable odor resistance that lets you wear it far longer than most materials. All in all it's just the good stuff.\xa0

If you want to go even heavier, we've got a decent amount of beautifulWarmform Merinoremaining from last year, a snappy and breathable fabric that is about 2/3 sweater, 1/3 sweatshirt and 100% a joy to wear. Just bear in mind theWarmform Merino HoodieandWarmform Merino Crewneckshould be coming in slightly revised later this fall, with new colors but also slightly higher prices. The choice is yours grab what you see now or wait a little for the new new. You also might want to scope out theHard/co Merinooptions too. This stuff has been moving a bit fast for the email list, so we can't guarantee availability but if you see some around we recommend snapping it up for that emotional armor effect that combining a dense cotton interior with loose cotton interior brings. And of course all the merino layers naturally, put the Ultrapure close to the skin and heavier stuff on top and enjoy the weather in comfort.\xa0
