That said we do tend to reach for the merino far more in the fall-through-spring than the high summer. The thermoregulation and dry body climate it creates are year-round features, but no matter how you slice it it still insulates a bit and that means it shines in weather where you want a little (or a lot) of insulation. We've also got a new run of last year's Ultrapure Mackenzie update, the redoneUltrafine Merino Longsleeve. There isn't much to say here except we started over from scratch to build a new long sleeve cut that fits just right. And of course there is all that natural merino performance. The dry body climate comes from wool's remarkable hygroscopic nature (that means it absorbs water vapor, not liquid water, and the fact is most of your sweat is actually vapor not liquid). The thermobuffering effect that makes merino comfortable in a wider range of temperatures than just about anything else. The fact that it feels dry and insulates when wet is a bonus, as is the wrinkle resistance and remarkable odor resistance that lets you wear it far longer than most materials.
