Celebrate Día de los Muertos with
Espolòn Tequila

Some people confuse Día de los Muertos with Halloween, believing that both holidays that have skull symbols as a part of their decor are scary holidays. It’s actually quite the contrary. Día de los Muertos, celebrated annually on November 1st and 2nd, is a time when the spirits of the departed are believed to return home and spend time with their relatives. It is a cause for celebration, not mourning.

Here are three ways to celebrate your loved ones that have passed during this Día de los Muertos:

  1. Build an altar to honor those who have passed. Altars have different components that vary from one culture to another that mostly include yellow and orange marigolds, candles, photos of the departed, and papel picado (cut tissue-paper designs).

  2. Toast to those who are no longer with us. It’s common practice to pass around Tequila during Día de los Muertos celebrations, with communities sharing fond memories (and funny anecdotes) of those who are no longer living. The tequila of choice is Espolòn Tequila as at its heart, Espolòn Tequila is a tribute to Mexican culture, with its striking bottle depicting the rich, storied history of\xa0Mexico.

  3. Visit your loved one’s grave(s) and decorate it with bright orange marigolds, which are believed\xa0to light the way for ancestors to return.
