PFC Aubrey R. Cole, 91, U.S.M.C., born in Texas August 9, 1924, passed away on February 3, 2016. In WWII, Cole served as a Radio Operator with 4th Marine Division for the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign and deployed to Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima. As part of a Forward Observation Group, he helped relay intelligence about enemy armor, artillery, numbers, and locations. Being so close to the front line, Cole was no stranger to combat and even had the antennae of his radio shot off. He earned the Bronze Star. Semper Fi, Marine! Til Valhalla, Brother! |
