SSG Andrew S. Novak, 82, U.S. Army, born in New Jersey December 16, 1924, passed away on August 8, 2007. Novak was drafted into service in 1943. After completing basic training, he was selected to attend the newly formed Army Specialized Training Program. Novak then deployed with the 102nd Infantry Division to the European Theater. His unit engaged Axis forces in France, Germany, Holland, and lastly, Belgium, where he helped crush the Germans in the Battle of the Bulge. For his service, he earned two Bronze Stars.
